The REACHER?
Last summer while in Europe with two girlfriend's we started a little game called "Who is Doing Who a Favor?" This was so much fun when you are in countries where you aren't exactly fluent so you can't just chat it up the locals :) Basically this game is as simple as spotting a couple and deciding who out of the two individuals is more attractive. More times than not it was a no brainer but there were a few instances where we either didn't agree as a group or it was a true toss. Yes, this does seem kinda judgemental but it was all harmless fun.
This fun game came back to me while watching an episode of How I Met Your Mother. Side note: I LOVE that show! The show was about how every relationship has a "Reacher" aka the person who is having the favor done to them. So next time you are stuck in a lone line, a delay at the airport or just at a casual dinner with friends, think "Who is the Reacher here?" It may just be you :)

Shiny Silver Box
True story,
I just had to share.
A friend of mine was out of town with her fiancee. They were eating at a restaurant that happened to have a generic restroom. He went to the bathroom during dinner and came back with a grin on his face. He said to my friend, "You know that is awful nice how they have free tampons for you ladies in the stalls, do all restrooms do that?" My friend looked at him puzzled, "You mean in a basket on the sink counter or something?" He said no in those shiny silver boxes in the stall, I saw tampons in there. My friend said she could not quit laughing as she informed her fiancee that he was looking at used tampons that ladies before him had discarded. He was mortified and said to think it is someone's job to clean that shiny silver box.
Think about that the next time you think you are having a bad day :)

Priceless...
This past weekend my brother and his family came home for the first time in 2 years... and to say I was excited would be an understatement. You see they live in Indonesia, so it's not like I can get in a car and go see them or really get on a plane and go see them (It's a LONG, several day trip). Their flights got messed up so we didn't get back to Greenville with the whole family until after 11PM on Friday night. When I say whole family, I mean the whole lot. My brother, his wife (who is preggers) and their 3 boys. Joshua is 4 1/2, Caleb is 3 and Jedidiah is 1 1/2 years old. Jedidiah I have never actually held or touched. I've seen him grow from infant to the adorable walking/talking toddler he is today via Skype but it just isn't the same. So needless to say when they wanted him to sleep in my bedroom I was more than happy to accommodate. They told me he may want to lay beside me in the bed vs. his pack-n-play. The poor kid had been traveling and out of his norm for more than 48 hours, heck if I wasn't going to give him anything he wanted. Can you say "Let the spoiling begin"! He not only slept with me in the bed, he slept on top of my chest the entire night. It was so sweet...yes, I didn't get any sleep, but as I said to everyone that weekend it was a "Priceless Moment!" The weekend was filled with many priceless moments and I can't wait to make more while they are here but another "Priceless Moment" came on Monday while at work when my Mom text me that "Jedidiah has lice and I probably want to go get Lice Shampoo"....WHAT? My first special moment with my new nephew and he gives me lice....truly PRICELESS! :)

Life gets crazy

Sometimes I feel like I just can't keep up...and this is before the huddy and kids phase of life-what then???
I was looking over my gmail calendar to try and find an open weekend to take a little road trip with a friend when I realized that I don't have one open weekend in March, April and yep May also!
I mean it is cool to be popular and all, but this chick ain't so Spring like anymore.. I need down time. Let me know if you know where I can find some.

Ever have this happen to you?

Here is the setting:
At dinner with 3 girlfriends at a cute little place in Athens, GA.
Need to know:
4 girlfriends who don't get to see each other too often, which means there is constant gabbing... I mean A LOT!
Now the scene of the crime:
Friend A: Right in the middle of a "personal conversation" when Waitress walks up... Oops!
AWKWARD
Waitress Takes Drink Order and then Leaves.
SAME Friends A: Right in the middle of an "old College story" if you get my drift when, yep, Waitress returns with drinks... Oops! AWKWARD
And the night would not be complete without the same said friend making a horrible comment that would not make a bit of sense unless you had heard the entire conversation, when Waitress again returns with our food. BEYOND AWKWARD AT THIS POINT
Oh Boy... What must that poor young girl be thinking? We really are good people!
I think next time we will cook in!

Love, Love, Love... all we need is LOVE!

At heart I am a hopeless romantic... it is true. And I recently read a quote about love that I believe captures just the type of love I am looking for...aspire to have...aspire to give. But love truly is an act.. not a mere feeling/emotion, but something we choose. So happy Valentine's Day to all those out there that I love!
Love is a friendship that has caught fire.
It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving.
It is loyalty through good and bad.
It settles for less than perfection,
and makes allowances for human weaknesses.
Love is content with the present.
It hopes for the future and it doesn't brood over the past.
It's the day-in and day-out chronicle of irritations, problems,
compromises, small disappointments, big victories,
and working toward common goals.
If you have love in your life,
it can make up for a great many things you lack.
If you don't have it, no matter what else there is,
it is not enough, so search for it, ask God for it, and share it!

Quote of the week...
"All opinions are not equal.
Some are a very great more robust,
sophisticated and well supported in logic

The white stuff!

We had our first snow here in the Queen City this past weekend. See pics. While I love this beautiful white stuff, I must admit, I did start to get stir crazy by Saturday evening. Thank goodness for good company :)
But now the weather peeps are calling for another little winter mix. Thank you but no thank you. If the little white guys want to come down and join us, fine, but not on the weekends? How about coming during the week so I can have a work from the casa day... Me likely those!

The lesson we learn
"Experience: that most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my God do you learn."
C.S. Lewis
We learn through books, lectures, seminars, others...but most often through our experiences.
The other day I was thinking about all the experiences of life and how they shape you. Shape your beliefs, your outlook on life, your priorities, your goals... the list goes on and on. Often during these tiny moments of "experience" we don't even realize the molding that is taking place. So neat to stop sometimes and realize it all. Life is amazing. It truly is a journey.
One full of experiences!

umm WHAT happened?

Nothing, that is the issue. I went to the salon this week to get my hair did... she did all the things one might would assume would be done... you know looked kinda like a metal monster for a bit... but then all was said and done AND.... Nada, yep nothing, I look the exact same. At first I was like, maybe I am imagining it, but NO. Co-worker looked at me and said I thought you were getting your hair done this week. Yep, not sure what she put on my hair, but it didn't work. Can I get a refund?

What ya'll think about this?

RE -/'re/
prefix: again, anew
As in REVITALIZE, to give new life to familiar favorites; as in REARRANGE, to put elements into a fresh and appealing order; as in RENEW, to restore or renovate with an updated approach; as in REFRESH, to review and perfect essential skills; as in REVIVE, to flourish again, to enliven.
I copied this from a friend's blog and it made me think of the most obvious RE to me and I needed to get some opinions here. You see when I think of RE I think of Reigh (kinda like Leigh but with an R). This is the name I came up with to name my daughter one day, that is if I have one... ya'll know I am a planner. I came up with the name because my great grandfather's name was Memory..not positive on his spelling. I figured I could name my little girl Memoreigh and call her Reigh. I thought this was a brilliant idea as I want all my kids names to be 1.) unique and 2.) have meaning behind them. So check and check-right?
Well, yes until I started asking people what they thought about it and "Reigh, Reigh" was the first things out of their mouths... not cool. Not trying to damage the poor little girl right from the start.
So my question to all of you (you know all 3 of you out there), is Reigh an acceptable name for a girl? What are your thoughts.
