Perfect Saturday

So what does a perfect Saturday look like... well, not sure there is a specific look, but this Saturday was pretty close to feeling perfect. Here is how it went.

7:30 AM:
I woke up early to my brother and his sweet family wanting to SKYPE. I can't get over how fast they are growing up... makes me smile and sad at the same time.

9:00 AM:
I went on a long run around my beautiful neighborhood. I am always amazed by some new house I have never noticed before and the variety of architecture and landscape. I live in a beautiful area.

10:00 AM:
I then showered and had a great cup of Joe (from my own house- it has been awhile).

11:00AM:
Next I went to the local MP library to sign up for a card- yes I am a dork and wanted a library card :) ... I mean when did we quit checking out books??? I know we have such great gadgets and tools like Google and Wikipedia, but I want to be old school sometimes. :)

12:30PM:
I spent a few hours at the wonderful park down the street reading Cosmo and Crazy Love...you know it is all about balance (Crazy Love is a spiritual book and well you all know Cosmo- right?)

2:30PM:
I went to the Farmer's Market to get some yummy fresh local produce and flowers. Also, got some herbs :)

3:30PM:
I got all dressed up for a wedding.

5:30 PM:
I witnessed two of my new Charlotte friends commit their lives to one another :)

7PM-until:
I ate, drank and danced a little.... fun night :) Did i mention they had a candy bar... yeah it was a good time!

So you see... pretty perfect Saturday!

Hope yours was just as nice... Until next time.... Blog On!

Earth Day

I can not believe I forgot to post on Earth Day.
It was April 22 in case you too missed it.
You guys know that I am a wanna-be-hippie!
So, I feel like I should at least acknowledge its importance here.

First a little edumacation.... hope you realize I didn't misspell education :)

Earth Day, celebrated in the US on April 22, is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment. It was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in in 1970 and is celebrated in many countries every year. This date is Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere.

Second a little inspiration to be earth friendly...

There is always something new I am hearing about but so many others are much better at communicating these ideas and how tos (check out Meredith's blog!). Instead I will leave you with a thought... shocker!!! Stick with it... whatever you are doing to be more earth friendly, stick with it! Yes, it is not always convenient, but it is worth it. I am saying this to myself just as much as to all of you (All 3 of you that read this :)

Happy Belated Earth Day everyone!

Everyone loves a picture

OK- I have been a busy bee with no time to write.
(Literally have not slept in my own bed but a few days in the past few weeks.)

So here are a few pics of recent events.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words- right?
So all my lack of posts will be caught up with these photos below :)

Hair Update

I almost forgot to fill you in on my hair after asking you to vote on the best option. So what did I do...

Well, although Option 8 was the favorite.. it was a little too blonde and a little too short, maybe next time... so drum roll please.....

I chose option 5- I did natural looking blonde highlights and long layers. I didn't take too much length off since I was leaving for Miami the next day and wanted to have long locks for this.

But I plan to get another cut soon and the winner will be Option 3- The Jessica Alba hair-do.

So I will post pics soon of the current new do as well as the next new do when it gets done. I may wait a little into summer as my new stylist in Charlotte (I heart Brian) told me I am fierce with long hair, so I may keep it a bit longer. I mean everyone knows the gays are the best judge of us straight women. :)

Thanks for all ya'lls help!

When God speaks....

Do you ever find it hard to decipher when you are hearing from God? I know this is something I struggle with.

First: Sometimes we pray for something and when things start happening in what could be that direction- we say "yep, its God, this must be his will, great!" But really are we just looking for excuses/signs that say what our will is must also be his will? This can be real confusing and dangerous at the same time.

Second: We lift up an area of our lives to God. Surrender the control and tell God we have faith that he will do what is best and lead us in the direction that will be best. Then when things start happening, you say "hold up, I am not sure I am ready for this... I mean I know I said I was, but really now... you think now is the time...I thought this was just going to be a slower process?" You say you give control to God but when the control really is lost- you freak.

Third: You have a situation or relationship that you constantly struggle with. You know that God will be the only way you can move past where you are but He never seems to answer? You pray and pray for the right wisdom and hear a lot of silence. You think back to the things he answers right away, you know those less important issues, and you think "well thanks for helping with that but really did you think that was my 1st priority over this bigger issue? I mean can we resolve this one and then move on to the others?" God's timing often leaves me scratching my head.

It is funny because I always ask God to paint me a Billboard Sign... you know so I can't mess/mix things up. There have been a few situations where he has given me a billboard sign (not an actual one of course), but unfortunately this is not usually God's style I guess. So I pose the question how do you decipher when God speaks? Any good tricks up your sleeve? Share.

I do know that God does speak and when we are still long enough to listen, it is much easier to hear! That's all I got.

Watch Out!!!

As you read this post I am probably either on a plane to Miami or laying on a beach in South Beach!!!! Either way, I am in paradise!

Yes, me and a few of my college girls are headed to Miami for a long weekend.

Hopefully it will be full of sunbathing, salsa dancing and a little pretending as if we are reliving the good ole days when we use to get a Spring Break every year...remember those days?

Back soon with a few fun stories and pics from our Spring Break '09 adventure.
The ones I can share-of course :)

Status

So, I was in Charleston at my favorite coffee shop minding my own business being ultra productive and loving life when I started to over hear two women beside me converse about facebook. Now these were not little college or high school girls... oh no grown women my age or honestly probably a little older. These two women were in deep conversation about facebook statuses.

Yep, I said it facebook statuses. Apparently one of the ladies had been dating a guy who still had his facebook status set to single. "What does this mean" she said. "Do you think I should ask him about it or bring it up?" she asked her friend. They then proceed to have a lengthy conversation how exactly to handle this situation, what exactly it meant about his feelings for her, and whether he was really ready or wanted to be in a relationship.... Wowzers???

What has this world come to. So I decided right then and there, any guy I date can not have a facebook page. I mean my list of requirements is already so long, why not throw in this little one. Granted I know this eliminates half of the population from my dating realm but honestly, I can not be dealing with this whole new world we live in. I mean it is just too much.

Livin for the weekend!

Why can I not wait for the weekend you may ask??? OK- You probably didn't ask, but I'm telling.

This weekend is going to be AWESOME! Here is why:

1.) Thursday I am headed down to Charleston... this is always a good thing!
2.) I am running the Bridge Run on Saturday with Charlotte and Charleston friends!
3.) Smartwater is the official water for the race this year (back on up Aquafina). So that means Smartwater and the new VitaminWater 10 will be in strong presence on the peninsula. Everyone should try the NEW VitaminWater 10... it is great and only 10 calories per serving! OK enough about work, this is about my weekend-right?
4.) It is suppose to be in the 70s...Sullivan's or Folly Beach here I come!
5.) I so love Charleston Food... it is just some good stuff!!!!
6.) I get to hear my favorite band "The Secrets" on Saturday night
7.) There may even be a little dancing, there seems to always be with ole Romness!
8.) My HEELS are playing... I'm so excited!!!!!
